Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

GA Republican Party endorses the FairTax!

This year's GOP State Convention was held in the Convention Center in Savannah, Georgia. Supplies and banners were brought in by Lyn Williamson, 4th DD and setup of the booth was THE prime location for all delegates and attendees to come by our booth. In addition, we were flanked by the two top contenders for next year's governors race, Karen Handel and John Oxendine. Cong. John Linder along with other elected officials came by on Friday and Saturday during the convention which also had Herman Cain as a guest speaker. Carrie Blackburn, 1st DD, hosted the booth with help from Lyn, Lloyd Newsome, and Justin Pittman.

The best news of all came during the resolutions portion of the program. Under the "Government Reform" resolution, we finally were able to put the Fair Tax as the answer to fundamental tax reform. A copy of the resolution is as follows:

Government Reform

WHEREAS the purpose of civil government is to preserve the fundamental rights of its citizens, not to control the private marketplace; and

WHEREAS in founding our Republic, the states gave the federal government only those limited powers that are specified in the US Constitution;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Georgia Republican Party affirms its opposition to the taxpayer funded bailout of US businesses, the unprecedented level of federal deficit spending, and the federal government’s unconstitutional assault on state sovereignty.

LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED the Georgia Republican Party opposes government involvement in the private marketplace that is not specifically provided for in the US Constitution and supports full Congressional oversight of the Federal Reserve including passage of HR-1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009.

LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED the Georgia Republican Party affirms that the United States of America is a constitutional Republic and that the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution clearly affirms that all powers not expressly given to the federal government in the US Constitution are reserved for the states or the people. We hereby affirm Georgia’s state sovereignty and commit ourselves to principles that maximize the freedom and liberty of all Georgians.

LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED the Georgia Republican Party supports fundamental tax reform by the federal government that will maximize personal freedom and allow the engine of America’s private marketplace to thrive. We further believe that the most favorable opportunity to achieve these goals is to repeal the 16th Amendment to the US Constitution and enact the Fair Tax, HR-25/S-296.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the President of the United States, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, the President of the US Senate, the Governor of Georgia, each member of Georgia’s congressional delegation, and each member of the Georgia General Assembly.

Hope the other states are taking notes.

Last nite on HermanC's show he said the speakers agenda was running an "hour and a half late". And when he left so did the crowd. He supposed this was in protest to the gov'nr not signing the bill to hire unemployed.

One lady called in to say she'd post Herman's video to Utube, but admitted that it wouldn't be all that great for the gyrations of some folks who should have quit playing and sat down and listened.

I see these items as a continued rudeness and ineptness on the part of Republocrats. If they cannot be polite to one another and on time, why should I be bothered?

Hope there is to be a list of folks who support FairTax heart & soul when the time comes.

Awesome! This should be a tenet of the RNC's platform, and the DNC's, too. It's right in keeping with a letter to Bush, signed by Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leaders, some 5 yrs. ago. I believe it's posted in part, somewhere else on FTN.
