The Fair Tax is a good start to gaining some semblance of control over Washington.

I couldn't have said it better. Until we get rid of the career politicians there is nothing we can do. Until we break the grip of the political elite we will not regain our country.

Democratic party leadership has already asked for tax reform identical to the FairTax back in 2004.
The fact they demanded it and then dropped it once they got in the majority just goes to show how broken the parties are.

My congressman is a career Rep who will not committ on HR25 even though he said he is friends with Congressman Linder and he knows the bill. Can't crack him on the issue and everyone loves him so not even a Dem will be able to take his seat.

I have to agree with you overall, I'm just not sure how we get back to the starting point - as much as I would like to get there.
I am not opposed to a "big bang" kind of thing, just as long it leaves the Republic intact.

The FairTax issue should remain non-partisan. Taxes are paid by everyone and everyone "should be" concerned about them.
Whenever I speak with anyone about taxes they all (unless completely Liberal) say that they are tired…
I spoke wit ha democrat today at my store. She overheard me and another customer talking about how our congressman has been in office too long and that he will not sponsor the Fair Tax (he is rep by the way).
She said that we should have term limits…
