Inaccurate Article About The Fair Tax At American Thinker

John N. Hall refers to the Fair Tax as flawed, treats tax savers badly, will reduce consumption etc... Clearly Mr. Hall has not taken the time to thoroughly research The Fair Tax or is being disingenuous. I suggest we respond. Below is the link to the article.

The 1st thing I saw when I went to this article was an advertisement for a business to help you deal with the IRS. When I started reading the article, in the first sentence was a reference to an article by Bruce Bartlett, who helped rewrite the tax code in 1986. The next reference was to a book by Hugh Hewitt, another uninformed hit piece. Therefore, IMHO this article is pure BS and not worth wasting time on.

I would like to suggest that all readers take the time to follow this post and read the comments. There are some very good responses to this (umm, gee, what's the word?) "bloody" attack on the FairTax. The material in the responses is worth a fortune in terms of what to say and how to say it - read, be enriched and take notes!

Thanks for the post Dan!

I scratch my head when I read articles such as this. Why? Because I'm utterly astounded by the lack of research by the author. You've just got to wonder: is it negligence on the author's part? or is it deliberate? None the less, I put my 2 cents worth in the comments section.

This author obviously has no business commenting on a subject he knows so little about. Downright shameful. I should think, judging by most comments, that he'll research a little further before opining on this topic.

I have some mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I agree with Joe - the article is pretty much a hit piece on the FairTax and may be a waste of our time. On the other hand, I believe it is worth our while to respond to it so the author will know that he can't get away with spreading untruths about the FairTax. If nothing else, as Nancy suggests, maybe he'll spend a little more time on research before he opens his big mouth again.

The problem is that we don't have enough of resources to respond to every article like this one. We have to choose our battles carefully. My gut tells me this battle is worth fighting.
